About me

In Australia we cling to the coast of our vast continent. Having grown up in Melbourne and lived in Tasmania, I have now lived on the east coast of Northern NSW for 25 years. As a writer and counsellor, I love to meander through our inner and outer landscapes.

For many years I have been privileged to sit with people in quiet rooms as they explored the messiness and wonder of their lives. I listened to their stories, and followed their intimate narrative threads as they discovered hope and meaning in their experiences. Stories have shaped my life.

I play with various genres of writing but mostly creative non-fiction. In 2019 I edited and contributed to the publication, A School’s Journey Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School and some of my recent creative non-fiction writing can be found in in Grieve Anthologies and here at my writing.

Sitting at writing desks looking out over gums and gardens, absorbing and crafting words in atmospheric rooms and cabins has been a joy and an adventure. I am grateful to have been awarded residential mentorships and fellowships with Byron Writers Festival (2015), the Susannah Pritchard Centre in Perth (2019) and Varuna the Writers House in the Blue Mountains, NSW (2021).

My non-fiction manuscript Sent Up the River (working title) is about love, disability and death. It follows the story of a young Tasmanian woman in the 1970s who saved an abandoned boy who was stuck in a horrific institution. And saved herself.

Since 2010 I have brought together my love of creative writing and being with people, together with my counselling and group facilitation experience, to develop and facilitate writing for wellbeing groups. See more on writing for wellbeing.
